He then fakes his own death and leaves the home to his nephew who has recently lost his wife. They move into the strange house and slowly begin to figure out that plan his uncle set out for him. What makes this movie awesome is the ghosts. Each one has a specific name from The Torso to The Juggernaut.
The movie doesn't go much into their past, which I was disappointed in, but if you buy the DVD, the special featured contain a little vignette on each ghost. This way you find out exactly why they were how they were. The movie stars a slew of people, but not many A-listers. F. Murray Abraham of Amadeus fame plays the insane. It also starts Tony Shaloub and Shannon Elizabeth as well as Embeth Davitz and Matthew Lillard.
There are few horror movies out there that actually have a cool and unique story to them. Most of them try to simply scare you with the same old tricks and plot devices, but Thirteen Ghosts was an amazing original movie. I keep hoping there would be some type of sequel, but I guess they are going to let it stay as it is.
