Dark Knight Rises Giving Me Goosebumps

Dark Knight Rises Giving Me Goosebumps

July 20th, 2012, will be the date of one of the biggest movie releases of all time.  The Dark Knight Rises, the third and final chapter of Christopher Nolan’s contribution to the franchise, is probably one of the most anticipated movies of the summer and has been the subject of many rumors, speculations and information leaks.  The new movie takes place eight years after the last film leaves off and Batman, who has been hiding from the law all this time, must reemerge to battle the newest villain, Bane.

An amazing cast promises to make this film even better.  The old favorites return, such as Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and, of course, Christian Bale as Batman.  Some new cast members include Anne Hathaway as Catwoman and Tom Hardy as Bane.  Incidentally, Hardy will be taking over Mel Gibson’s old role as Max in the new Mad Max films.

Nolan has stated that this movie is the last Batman film he will be doing and the other cast members have confirmed that they will not be signing on to do any more.  The previous attempts at the franchise have proven disastrous, as they were dragged out beyond the point of death and even the presence of such an iconic character as Batman couldn’t save the films from bad writing and mediocre casting.

Everyone involved in the film appears to be excited about what they have been producing, and I have to follow suit in saying that I anticipate this movie to be one of, if not the, best super hero film released in the last ten years.  For the next six months, however, I will have to wait like the rest of you and say silent prayers to the gods of filmmaking that I will not be disappointed in Nolan’s work.
