Disney Releases First 10 Minutes of 'John Carter' Online

Why didn't they do this sooner?!

Not long ago, I pretty much slammed John Carter. This was after watching a couple of trailers that, quite frankly, left me scratching my head and wondering what all the fuss was about. Now, thankfully, Disney has helped me out, by releasing the first 10 minutes of the movie online.

All I can say is, "Ohhhhhhhhhhhh." Seriously, I wish I'd seen this sooner, because now I have a much better idea of what's going on. I think.I feel the overwhelming need to warn you that the 10-minute clip of John Carter does NOT, in any way, include any action on Mars. For fans, you already know, but for those who aren't: John Carter is based on a series of books by the brilliant Edgar Rice Burroughs. These books follow John Carter OF MARS as he tries to save a beautiful princess caught in the midst of a terrible Martian war.

For some reason, Disney thought naming the film just John Carter was the way to go - but it left a lot of us unsure of the character and the story. I know I'm not alone in this, am I? Anyway, this new clip sets everything up for us: We learn who John Carter is and how he winds up on Mars in the first place. Trust me, for someone who knows absolutely nothing about the books, this helps tremendously.

And now, the first 10 minutes of John Carter:

Thank you, Disney. I really wasn't sure about seeing John Carter, but now I'm thinking it's time for a nice Saturday afternoon matinee action!
