News comes straight from Ron Burgundy's mouth
It's not clear just yet how long we'll actually have to wait for Anchorman 2 (or whatever it will officially be called), but at least now we know it's happening. Dare I say this might be one of the most highly anticipated movie sequels ever?In case you missed it, here's Will Ferrell, aka Ron Burgundy, of San Diego's Channel 4 News, making the big Anchorman sequel announcement on Conan O'Brien's TBS talk show on Wednesday night:
That's some mighty fancy flute playing, sir. I say we all celebrate this big news with some flute playing, a little scotch and perhaps by singing a little "Afternoon Delight!"
Feels good, no? Now for some specifics: According to Nikki Finke at Deadline Hollywood, Adam McKay will direct Anchorman 2 and all of the major original cast members will be back. Yes, that means Steve Carell, Paul Rudd and David Koechner will reprise their roles as Brick, Brian and Champ. Excited yet? No official word on whether Baxter will return, but you'd think so.
As for Adam McKay and Will Ferrell, they're said to be still working out the specifics for the Anchorman sequel. Time to lock these two in a room with a pizza and some Red Bull -- no coming out until the script is done! What I wouldn't give to be a fly on the wall for that brainstorming session...
