When will Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn make another good movie?

When I first saw the trailers for the Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn comedy movie The Watch, I was excited. Finally, a great film from both of them, after what I think are some pretty major stinkers in recent years. Well, imagine my disappointment when the reviews for The Watch started trickling in -- and they were awful.

I'm not the only one who stayed away from the theater this weekend, apparently. We've already seen The Dark Knight Rises, and nothing else was playing that piqued my curiosity. The Watch was on my list, but given the horrible reviews, I felt it was one I could wait for on DVD. Besides, the Summer Olympics are on!Did anyone go see The Watch over the weekend? If you did, I'd love to hear what you thought. I really genuinely like Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn and Jonah Hill, but I didn't want to set myself up for a major disappointment by plunking down $20 to see The Watch and then snoozing through it.

Sadly, The Watch absolutely tanked at the weekend box office. The Dark Knight Rises was the big winner, taking in more than $64 million (not surprisingly), but The Watch couldn't even place second. It came in third (behind Ice Age Continental Drift), and grossed just over $13 million. That's pathetic. Even a craptastical Adam Sandler comedy film could do better.

Another huge tanker this past weekend was Step Up Revolution. The fourth installment in the Step Up movie franchise made just under $12 million. It's definitely the lowest debut for any of the Step Up films. I love dance movies, but I always wait for the DVD releases on those. The plots tend to be ridiculous. I'm watching only for the dancing, and I'm not shelling out major bucks to see that in the theater (unless it's Channing Tatum, then I'm all in).

All in all, it was a down weekend at the movies, except for TDKR. I'm sorely disappointed that The Watch is a stinker. I'm having trouble remembering the last good Vince Vaughn comedy I saw -- maybe Wedding Crashers? I'm not sure what's going wrong for him. Is he just taking bad roles or what?
