New trailer for 'The Dark Knight Rises' offers great preview

New preview suggests hard times for Batman

The latest trailer for the upcoming summer blockbuster movie The Dark Knight Rises was released on Monday night, and it definitely offers a lot more details about the film's plot. It seems this third and final movie in the Christopher Nolan-directed Batman trilogy is going to be a tough ride for the caped crusader (that's putting it mildly). Did anyone expect anything less? I didn't think so.

In short, the new Dark Knight Rises trailer is fantastic, and it only makes me wish more that I didn't have to wait until July 20 to see the movie!

The Dark Knight Rises - Official Trailer #3 [HD]

Things are not looking good in Gotham City in this preview. The evil Bane (Tom Hardy) is out to destroy Batman. Does he want to kill him? Hardly. As Bane says, "Your punishment must be more severe." Bane is causing all sorts of horrible happenings in Gotham. One clip shows a large bridge blowing up. Another clip shows a group of terrified-looking school children. Who can help to save the city from certain doom?

Normally, the answer to the above question would be, of course, Batman. In the trailer, though, Batman is missing. All heck is breaking loose in Gotham City, and Bane, aka "Gotham's reckoning," has apparently kidnapped Bruce Wayne/Batman. One of the reasons I've loved Chris Nolan's Batman trilogy is that it's so dark -- and The Dark Knight Rises promises to deliver on that theme in spades.

In this new trailer, we also see a lot of Catwoman (Anne Hathaway), so much so that I'm starting to think she's more than just a supporting character in the film. I wasn't sure about the casting for this role, but Hathaway has a habit of delivering -- no matter what role she plays.

And also? We get a glimpse in this trailer of the first-ever flying Batman car! I'm all about flying cars. I expect great things from The Dark Knight Rises (The Dark Knight is one of my top five favorite movies of all-time), and watching this new trailer, I feel really, really good about the movie.

What are your thoughts after watching this latest Dark Knight Rises trailer? More excited about seeing the film? Less? Let me know in the comments.
